Dear Families,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Thames British School, Madrid.
At Thames, we take pride in providing not only an excellent academic education, but also a nurturing environment where every student is encouraged to grow, explore, and thrive. We believe in a holistic approach to education,one that goes beyond exams to develop the intellectual, emotional, social, and creative aspects of each child.
For us, education is about far more than qualifications; it is about preparing young people to face the challenges of the 21st century with confidence, curiosity, and compassion.
Our students benefit from the guidance of an international community of ambitious and highly qualified teachers. They bring with them a wealth of experience, cultural perspectives, and a shared passion for helping children discover their talents, pursue their interests, and achieve their goals. In doing so, they create a warm, inclusive atmosphere in which every pupil feels valued and supported.
As a British school, we follow the National Curriculum of England and International Baccalaureatte, ensuring our students receive a rigorous and thoughtful education. From the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Cambridge International AS and A Levels, our pupils are supported at every stage of their journey.
In Years 12 and 13, students can choose between the A Levels or the International Baccalaureate (IBDP) programme, allowing them to follow the path that best suits their interests and future goals. Ultimately, they gain internationally recognised qualifications that open doors to leading universities across the globe.
Yet, our mission extends beyond academics. We aim to develop confident, independent learners who demonstrate perseverance, respect, and critical thinking. Just as importantly, we want our students to believe in their ability to make a difference in the world. Every day, our dedicated educators work to inspire that belief,helping young people to grow not only in knowledge, but also in character.
